Today, July 1st 2007 marks the 24th birthday of the talented Marit Elisabeth Larsen. As most of you readers may already know, she is one half of the once popular Norwegian duo known as M2M alongside Marion Raven.

Now Marit is on her own, carving a name for herself as a solo artiste, and she has done tremendously well back home in Norway. Unlike Marion who has gone west to promote her rock image, Marit stayed home and projected a spellbinding country sound that has her fans eating right out of her hand. I must admit that her music isn't immediately accessible, but given time, you'll get swept up in it and be mesmerised by her unique sound.

I have said that her previous work with Marion would always be my first love, but I'd still commend her solo efforts. I admire her courage and will to venture out on her own against the odds and successfully make a name for herself. I wonder if she would one day conquer the world the same way she did with M2M. I wish she would come back to Asia, as I am certain many of her fans here would kill just to see her in person again.
