I Type, You Read

There's been a serious lack of updates here, I know. But you guys probably wouldn't want to hear from me anyway. There hasn't been much going on lately, so I'll just type out what comes to mind right now:

- There's a convenience store right next to the cafeteria near my office. Today when I walked by, I noticed they made a special place in the corner of the store for displaying traditional Malay dresses for sale, since Aidilfitri is coming. That was the first time I've seen them do that. Seeing those clothes reminds me of some people I know.

- I'm just healing from a bad back, which I got from lifting old newspapers about two weeks ago. The pain spread to my side and stomach, and though it wasn't excruciating, it sure was bugging me. The cold weather made it even worse. Thank God it's over.

- The Amazing Race Asia season three will begin next week. It's the reality show where teams of two race around the world for US$100,000. Unfortunately the teams selected this season aren't as interesting as last season. This time we have two teams from Malaysia, India and Thailand, and one each from Korea, Singapore, Philippines and Hong Kong, making it ten altogether. I wonder how Malaysia always get two teams in the race. Even more weird is the fact that both Malaysian teams this year has a famous actor as a member. How does that happen? The executive producer says that the chances of a team being chosen to take part is less than 1% due to the number of entries they received. So how do these actors get themselves on board? I for one don't find them entertaining, at least at first glance. I guess I'll be rooting for a non-Malaysian team again.

- Have you guys heard the new David Archuleta song, Crush? It sucks. Seriously. Archuleta is a talented kid, but really, this song sucks. It's boring and it makes him sound terrible. This is why I support David Cook. For those of you who still think Archuleta is a better singer than Cook, I pity you.

- Every morning on the way to work, I listen to this radio show, and right now it's probably the most excruciating radio show I've ever heard. But I'm forced to listen to it, because it's my sister's car and she loves the damn show! Well actually, she loves the on-air quiz where listeners have to fill in a blank and win cash. I don't mind that, but what I do mind are the damn f*cking DJs! Do you know what is one of the worst kinds of people in the world? The kind who think that they're funny and they're God's gift to comedy. They're pathetic, the way they play the game and try to be funny about it. There's absolutely nothing natural about their presentation. For example, when it's time for the quiz to start, they'll go "oh look, there's a big hole I'm going to fall into, it's time to plug the hole!". They have to say 'plug the hole' because that's what the quiz is called. But they say this whole line, or other variations of it with such artificial enthusiasm, you'd have to be under seven years old to laugh about it. I got so pissed about it today that when they said that I exclaimed out loud "Oh for God's sake get on with it!" I wish I could take the bus to work. Really. But I'll be late if I do. To the producers of the show (you know who you are), you're probably not reading this, but if by some chance you are, please get those two off the air. Permanently.

Last but not least, I just want to say this: I hate change. Why? Because change isn't always for the better. I know I've said it before, but I just wanted to reiterate it. I've heard people say that change is good, and just because things are different, doesn't mean it's bad. Well, no. Not for me. Most poeple who say that obviously never saw a situation from other perspectives. If things were fine the way they were, how does changing it make it better? Yes, I can accept that things have to change over time, but not everything. And change never really suits everyone concerned. Someone is gonna be dissatisfied. But I guess that's the way the world is. Everyone's too selfish to give and take a little. Even me.

To all Muslims worldwide, happy fasting.
